Misguided words and
then misjudged?
A news snippet in today’s #HT City made me realize that news
can sometimes really be misleading. It can change the whole perception of a
person, more so an actor and a public figure.
Take for example, #Emma Stone’s news snippet on the front
page that read, “Filmmakers don’t take me seriously.” I wondered why an actor
as open and talented like Stone with a refined British accent and dialogue delivery,
would have to say that.
I turned to the back page, just to be surprised as her news
bit read, “Filmmakers don’t take my ideas seriously”.
Now, you would say, a few words here and there don’t make ‘all
the difference’. But to someone whose public image maybe dependent on what
perception the viewer creates over reading such news bits, it makes ‘all the
difference.’ Not taking someone seriously is not the same as not taking the
person’s ideas seriously.
For those who don’t have the talent to read between the
lines, news comes and goes. And anyways, the reader has a very limited
attention span. So, nothing is really moving. Information and news either
clicks or it doesn’t.
But it is worthwhile to think and ponder on that such
misguided points of view or use of words seems to be going unnoticed much
often.
