Law@ its best
A sauve intelligent ‘all of 23 years only’ discovers the world of law and love, all together…..
Set in the fast pace city of Mumbai, covering the city’s
length and breathe through the trains, the courtroom sessions and back to the
law firm, the Zorba Publishers release, ‘The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing
but the Truth, So Help Me God’ seems to be Manisha Mohan Wagh’s take from her
earlier days in Mumbai University- a light read for those who enjoy the world
of lawyers and law.
Revolving around the character of Tara More (the More isn’t
the less and more and Tara is extremely touchy about her surname), the novel
explores the world of an intelligent, bold yet sincere, hardworking 23 years
old girl who is juggling between an internship in the renowned and sort after
Warren, Srisanth, Jalan & Partners, a law firm that Tara is all in awe of.
The author has purposefully picked each of the famous law
maxims dividing them into 27 chapters, and unfolding Tara’s journey through her
growing as a professional and falling in love with a sort after ‘handsome ways
of Mr. Yash know-it-all’ who has a thing with his words and eyes. This is what lawyers are made of- isn’t it?
Each chapter ends with a signature song that lingers in
Tara’s mind, to add to the humour and light excitement of the whole plot. So be
it ‘Eye of the Tiger’ by Survivor, or ‘All Rise’ by Blue, the author has
cleverly depicted the active and sharpness of Tara through her personal
monologues and song selections.
Hired by Arunima, Tara discovers the dark side of law and eventually
learns that all that is fair isn’t always so. She rubs shoulders with a
grotesque Porky Parker, makes friends with Tehlina, Shabnam and hates Praizeen (like
everyone else in the law firm).
An all of 190 pages, is a read for your journey on the move-
the blurb makes it feel like a case of deception will unfold at some point of
time. But the plot remains simple and fun. Must read for the break of monotony
and to get that ‘Ah’ feeling you want after you have finished a novel.
